Singles Chat
AIM chat this afternoon, good friend feeling all "single":
- Friend: Thankfully, you are right. I vented and got it all out of my system.
Friend: I am resolving myself to a life of singleness.
Me: wrong :)
Friend: Once I can get moved into my own place, I think God will solidify this in my mind.
Friend: Why wrong?
Friend: It is my life. Being single.
Me: resolve yourself to a life of "usefulness" - and let God worry about anything else you need, brudda (matt 6:33)
Me: don't define yourself - stand up to the man - fight the power!
Friend: Yeah, but you must resolve yourself to your station in life. I cannot make God find me a woman. I have been standing up to Him about this one for 15 years now - I need to learn to be satisfied with what he has given me.
Me: "to live is Christ, to die is gain" is way similar to "to be married is fun, and to be single is to not have to share the toiletries"
Me: "your station in life" changes hourly, doesn't it? right now, you're co-worker - later on, you'll be uncle to your brother's kids - and maybe tomorrow, you'll be "that purple guy running around screaming" - but "single" is just where you're at right now, no matter how long it lasts
Me: and i can type faster than you - nyaah nyaah ;)
